Experience

I’ve spent my career building companies in technology, real estate, biofuel production and construction. Each chapter taught me something I now bring to HiberTec: find the problem, build the team and get it done.

GeoGreen Biofuels

I was founder and CEO of GeoGreen Biofuels Inc. from 2005 to 2011. We made biodiesel from used cooking oil at our plant in Vernon, just outside downtown Los Angeles. Plenty of people said a plant handling that much methanol could never be permitted there. We got it done. That experience taught me how to take an unusual idea through regulators and into the real world.

California real estate

I’ve held a California real estate license since 1988 and a broker’s license since 2018 (DRE #01009857). I bought, sold, remodeled and built homes across Los Angeles. I co-founded True West Realty, which I ran with my partners from 1996 to 2000, and Sandy Garcia Realty, from 2018 to 2020. At both, I hired and trained agents. That work taught me how a project comes together, from the permit counter to the final walkthrough.

Construction

I served as Chief Operating Officer of Focus Craft, Inc. from 2018 to 2019, running the residential and commercial construction company out of North Hollywood. HiberTec began during those years. A cartoon on my daughter’s homework became a drawing I could take to our architect, then a set of calculations we could work through with engineers.

West Adams

In 2015, I bought a fixer property in West Adams, Los Angeles, with two partners and brokered the purchase. I co-designed the new duplex with Aaron Brumer, who is now HiberTec’s lead architect, and we sold it in 2018.

Other ventures

Before GeoGreen, I led Enchanted Islands, a theme park planned for Kapolei, Hawaii. In 2004, I raised $55 million to build it, and the plan would have created more than 500 jobs. The seller backed out just before escrow closed.
